I was the MVP of my elementary school’s Reading Olympics team. I read an entire book on the bus ride to the competition, where teams were quizzed on plot details.
It was my finest athletic achievement.
Now, I’m a retired Reading Olympian and a professional writer.
My humor pieces on gardening, phishing schemes for 90s kids, diet culture, and climate change have been featured on McSweeney’s, The Belladonna Comedy, Slackjaw, and more.
I also write fiction. I’m a SCBWI and 12x12 Picture Book Challenge member. I’ve studied writing at The Writing Barn, The Highlights Foundation, Gotham Writers Workshop, and elsewhere, including my middle school classroom, where I learned the art of the five-paragraph essay. In 2021, I placed second in the middle grade category in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association’s literary contest.
Would it surprise you to learn I also write professionally? I’m a freelance corporate communications writer and have worked with various organizations to create written content for executives and People teams.
When I’m not reading or writing, you’ll find me crafting or enjoying the outdoors with my family.
